STAYAWHILE FARM is located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in Poulsbo, WA. We breed registered ADGA/AGS Nigerian Dwarf goats with the goal being to produce goats that are well balanced. Our goats are bred to have correct dairy conformation for the show ring, high milk production, and easy to milk teats. Our hard work has paid off because we currently have multiple does and a buck in our herd that have earned performance awards such as TOP TEN PERFORMANCE doe, ELITE Status, SUPERIOR GENETICS, and CHAMPION SHOW awards. Because we are a small family farm, we are able to provide the goats individual attention which makes them wonderful pets or show animals that are well handled and easy to manage for both adults and children. We chose Nigerians because we feel they are the ideal goat for a family wanting goat milk, but not having a lot of space. They are also wonderful 4-H animals for our four boys. The goats are approximately 1/2 to 1/3 the size of regular dairy goats which means they eat much less, require less fencing, are easy for children to handle, and are less noisy than other large dairy breeds. As an added perk, they come in an amazing assortment of patterns and colors. Our entire herd tested negative for CAE, CL, Johne's, and Brucella in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019 2021. In 2019, our farm participated in the USDA National Goat Study with a variety of testing being done to continue to prove the health of our animals. Some of the tests include: Fecal testing, Scrapie Genetic Tests, E.Coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Giardia, Cryptosporidium, and Myocoplasma ovipneumoniae Test. In 2023, we made the decision to do random testing rather than test the entire herd. Results have consistently come back negative. Any goat purchased from us can have blood work done prior to the sale if desired by the buyer at the buyer's expense. We guarantee test results will be negative. Stayawhile Farm participates in ADGA's Linear Appraisal Program where we pay to have an ADGA appraiser come to our farm to do an evaluation of each of our animals. Doing LA each year helps us assess the structural correctness of our animals and helps us with our breeding plan. Our goats have been Linear Appraised so you know what to expect from them. LA allows buyers to know what they are buying in terms of structural correctness and allows them to know the potential in the kids that they are purchasing. Stayawhile Farm has also participated in ADGA's DHIA (Dairy Herd Improvement Association) milk test program where we have a tester come to our farm on a monthly basis to record how much milk our does are producing and to take samples of the milk so it's composition can be recorded. It's our participation in both the LA program and DHIA program that has helped our goats earn their Superior Genetics awards. In 2024, Stayawhile Farm will be taking a break from the DHIA program while we focus on a herd reduction to keep numbers manageable. Lastly, we show our animals. It takes a lot of work to produce animals that are well balanced enough to do well in milk production and in Linear Appraisal so we like to show them off. In 2015, we took 1st place SR Kid at Nationals. We also recently finished two of our senior does, Takara and Blondie. 2017 had our doe, SG Stayawhile TV Camera Ready 2*M VEEE91 win GCH & Best Udder at the WA State Fair. 2018 our doe, Stayawhile Galaxy's Splendor won GCH x2 and SG Stayawhile TV Camera Ready 2*M VEEE91 became a Breed Leader winning Top Ten Award (#4 volume, #7 Butterfat, and #3 Protein)!
